Excellent Adventure Day # 78
A Dream Deferred

It’s a short post tonight as today’s video took longer than usual to produce..it’s got something that none of the others have had though, a look at some of the images from the 2003 Extra Innings Tour in addition to the Excellent Adventure video.
Kingsport, TN and Bristol, VA are only about 20 miles apart and thus it was a natural opportunity to try to see two games in the same night, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate.
There was a very nice account of the Low Mileage Tour by Brian Woodson in today’s Bristol Herald Courier – you will find it here
The Trip
The Video
Given that the story of these two parks was very intertwined both times I went to these towns they are together in the same video, the account of Day #78 on Bill & Sue’s Excellent Adventure when we visited parks 84 and 85.
Baseball Today
The Kingsport Mets still play in Kingsport..at Hunter Wright Stadium and Bristol, now affiliated with the Pirates still plays at DeVault Memorial Stadium, now known as Boyce Cox Field, after the man who was the team President when we first visited.
However, that may not continue to be the case. See yesterday’s post about a dubious proposal to contract teams across minor league baseball and destroy the Appalachian League…hopefully it is not too late for Major League Baseball to reconsider this plan.
On Deck
Tomorrow on the Low Mileage Tour; it is the second of three straight days of two parks in the same day in the cozy confines of the Appalachian League, first Princeton then Bluefield, WV.
